2018 USA Bat Standard
Effective January 1, 2018Updated Tuesday November 14, 2017 by Dave Hill.
On January 1, 2018 USA Baseball will be implementing a new rule change that establishes a new "wood-like" performance standard for bats. The Ballston Spa Junior Baseball League will be adopting this standard beginning in the 2018 Spring season, so all players registering to play for the junior league (ages 7-12), senior league (ages 13-14), or travel league (9U-14U) will need to use a new bat marked with the USA Baseball Stamp (See attached). All bats used during 2017 or earlier (i.e., bats marked with the existing 1.15 BPF stamp) will no longer be legal for use in league play.
IMPORTANT: Note that while all 2 3/4" barrel bats will be illegal under the new USA Bat Standard for all players age 14 or younger, approved USA Baseball 2 5/8" barrel bats are now acceptable for all levels.
See attached "2018batstandard" document for additional information regarding this important rule change. If you have any questions regarding the new USA Bat Standard, please contact Pete Sorbera (email@example.com) before purchasing a new bat.
